Support the Sligo Scholars Program
None of this would be possible without the generous backing of our community. Established by Ned Leiba in memory of Nobel laureate and former UC Berkeley instructor Seamus Heaney, the Sligo Scholars Program connects UC Berkeley (Cal) and University of the Pacific (UOP) students to an unparalleled literary immersion at the Yeats International Summer School (YISS). Over ten days in Sligo, Ireland—often called “Yeats Country”—our scholars deepen their understanding of W.B. Yeats’s works, attend seminars and readings, explore cultural sites, and become part of a vibrant international community of writers and academics.
Your donation ensures that future scholars can experience this enriching opportunity, covering essentials like tuition, travel, and housing. With your support, we can continue growing our fellowship, inspiring students to think creatively, engage in international collaboration, and carry Yeats’s literary legacy forward.

Thank you for helping us keep this tradition alive!
